Bioproteins are extracted as byproducts that result from fermentation processes during ethanol and biodiesel production (ARE Biofuels), e.g. proteins derived from microorganisms, non-protein nitrogenous products (urea), amino acids, and analogs of amino acids. These byproducts can be used in feed for farm livestock. ARE will produce yeast and use it for protein in cattle feed. The production of bioproteins is important for the world’s climate because it’s a carbon neutral process, and they can be grown rapidly on substrates with minimum dependence on soil, water, and climate conditions.
